In an extremely hard fight, Guillermo Jones (36-3-2, 27 KOs) dethroned reigning WBA cruiserweight world champion Firat Arslan (29-4-1, 18 KOs) via tenth round TKO on Saturday night at the Color Line Arena in Hamburg, Germany. Aslan pressed the action in a high tempo contest in which both fighters connected with good shots early on. The much taller Jones progressively busted up the face of Arslan with razor sharp punching while the superbly conditioned Arslan returned many hard connects on his end, as well. Referee Luis Pabon had the ring doctor examine Arslan's cuts in round seven. Jones continued to attack viciously and got the best of it until Pabon finally stopped the bout in round ten. Time was 2:33.
Denis Inkin takes WBO title
Unbeaten super middleweight Denis Inkin (34-0, 24 KOs) claimed the vacant WBO super middleweight world championship formerly held by Joe Calzaghe. Inkin won a twelve round unanimous decision over Fulgencio Zuniga (21-2-1, 18 KOs). Scores were 117-111, 116-112, 118-110.
Alexander Alekseev again with KO
Unbeaten cuiserweight KO artist Alexander Alekseev (16-0, 15 KOs) stopped veteran Rob Calloway (70-8-2, 56 KOs) at 2:34 of round three. Calloway was on the deck twice in the third. The bout was for the WBO Intercontinental cruiserweight belt. Alekseev looks like world championship material.

Juan Carlos Gomez (44-1, 35 KOs) is the new #1 contender for the WBC heavyweight title. "The Black Panther" outboxed Vladimir Virchis (24-2, 20 KOs, knocking down "The Hunter" in the fourth en route to a unanimous decision win. Scores were 117-110, 117-109, 115-111.
