AS EXPECTED MANNY PACQUIAO -  FLOYD MAYWEATHER Jr. IS CONTINUING TO BE THE MAIN BOXING NEWS.

It appears that more time was needed by either Manny or Floyd Jr. before their mega million dollar fight could take place and while the time lapse has been allowed to occur both boxers have decided to each take a bout that will give both of them a worthwhile pay night to help while away the time before THE BIG ONE,

That is unless lightning strikes in the wrong place.

There has been many a slip between cup and lip, and there is a danger that the two opponents Joshua Clottey, who has been chosen for Manny by his Coach and trainer, Freddie Roach, and Shane Mosley who has, probably, been chosen by the Mayweather family and Golden Boy Inc., could make

If you add these expert opinions to the form book, which greatly favours both Manny and Floyd Jr. to win, the odds on Joshua or Shane upsetting the ‘applecart’ must be huge.

For both Joshua and Shane to prove victorious would be immensely huge and be as likely to happen as the World financial crisis ending and all debts paid by near bankrupt countries within the short time frame of the most optimistic finance pundits.

To be more blunt, it aint gonna happen.

Both Manny and Floyd Jr. could call Las Vegas their boxing home territory but while Floyd Jr. has decided to make his match with Shane a ‘home’ fixture, Manny has decided to box away and go to Arlington, Texas, despite the fact his last six fights have taken place in Las Vegas and were licensed by Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC).

BoxingActiion.com recently severely criticised NSAC for having an imperfect drug testing system, which allows them to be content to depend entirely upon urine testing and be scornful of the expert claims on the obvious benefits of blood testing.

Blood tests are mandatory at The Olympics and it is not rocket science to conclude to solely rely upon the less reliable urine test is inferior when the minimum requirement is superior testing.

The immovable object in the Pacquiao – Mayweather Jr. debacle is Manny Pacquiao who has suddenly acquired a phobia of giving blood for tests prior to competing in a boxing match.

He was not asked to go to Transylvania and allow Dracula to draw on his blood but to merely allow a sample of his blood to be taken by a medical person at a reasonably close time  to the original scheduled date of the championship bout of 13th March 2010 against  Floyd Mayweather Jr.

This fear caused the possible largest boxing pay night event in history to be ‘cancelled’, which like many of the promised made by boxers on retirement, actually means for ‘the time being.’

Freddie Roach said when the cancellation notice was posted, “I think it will happen, and it will be Manny’s next fight. “

This was only partly correct.

In the corner facing Manny in his next fight will not be Floyd Jr. Instead on March 13th his appointment to deliver pain will take place against Joshua Clottey in Arlington. Texas.

The 2009 Fighter of the Year and Fighter of the Decade, Manny Pacquiao, as cast in lasting ink by the Boxing Writers Association of America, will defend his World Boxing Organization (WBO) welterweight title against Joshua and Pacquiao versus Mayweather Jr. will stay on the back burner.

To help to pay his bills ‘Money’ Mayweather will box Shane Mosley in Las Vegas on May 1st, which is May Day, at the original location for Pacquaio – Mayweather, the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Las Vegas, Nevada.

So far there is no news on whether WBA World title held by Shane will be on the line. For the fight to be over 12 rounds and not to be for the WBA title would not only keep boxing in the spotlight of ridicule but the mocking incomprehension on boxing having a minimum of 68 World champions would be given greater luminosity. .

ESPN. Com states the contract for Floyd Jr. to box Shane has been signed but the reliability of the Mayweather signature on the contract has yet to be tested.

Freddie Roach continued, “I think Mayweather will fight Shane Mosley, but if he doesn’t, it will make the fight with Manny happen sooner. If Floyd does fight Shane, that’s a good fight, and one I’d like to see.”

“Mosley will be beaten by Floyd. Mosley does well with guys who will come at him. He has had trouble with guys who move. Mayweather wins that fight but Mosley is a brave guy. If for any reason Mosley wins, Manny would definitely fight him. We’ll take that fight.”

Floyd said, "I wasn't going to waste anyone's time with a meaningless tune-up bout and I asked to fight Shane immediately.

"I have said ever since I came back to the sport that I only wanted to fight the best.

"I think Shane is one of the best but come May 1 he still won't be great enough to beat me."

Shane Mosley was an original choice for Manny after his sensational destruction of Ricky Hatton but instead it was decided the opponent would be Miguel Cotto.

Not too much should be read into this switch because both Manny and Miguel are promoted by Bob Arum, so the making of the fight was much easier. The 12th round KO win by Manny proved it was a wise choice for him.

38-year-old ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley in a 52 fight career has been beaten only five times and has fought some of the best. He is highly respected as a boxer.

He is a confident boxer and even the task of boxing and beating the unbeaten Floyd Mayweather Jr. one of the best fighters of his generation, does not sour the ‘Sugar’ man.

He said: "I have always wanted to fight Floyd and now it is finally coming true.

"I am already in great shape and ready to show everyone on May 1 that I am stronger, faster and better than he is.

"I will have no problem beating him."  ~
