TONIGHT AT MGM GRAND, LAS VEGAS, MAYWEATHER vs. MARQUEZ

CLASH OF DESTINED LEGENDS IS AS ENIGMATIC AS “WHO KILLED COCK ROBIN?” THE RESULT WILL BE APPROPRIATE WHEN KNOWN

It would be a brave, or a very inexperienced, gambler that would plunge heavily on the result of the Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather ‘- Juan Manuel Marquez fight result.

It is a fight that has been given super PR attention and every opportunity has been used to boost ticket sales, which, apparently, have not been sought by eager grasping hands.

The matching of these two outstanding certain legends of the future is entwined with imponderables that only a guesswork aided by the flip of a coin might give the correct answer.

Basically if Floyd Mayweather is able to shake-off his near two year hibernation away from boxing then his superior physical advantages might allow him to contain the renowned Mexican fiery spirit and courage of Juan Manuel Marquez will give him victory.

By contrast if Floyd is a degree or two under his best then Juan Manuel will open up the gaps and be the first ever to claim his scalp.

Floyd Mayweather is an illuminating comprehensive boxer and only the best of his generation has any possible chance of beating him. Juan Manuel reigns superior at a lower weight. Will he be able to step-up two divisions and beat the so far unbeatable Floyd?

His Uncle, Roger Mayweather, who is also responsible for his training and fight plan, aided on this occasion by Floyd Mayweather Sr., the father of Floyd, in characteristic Mayweather style dismisses any thought of anyone beating Floyd, and that probably includes King Kong.

The name Mayweather might be a suitable synonym for stormy weather. It seems as if controversy follows in their family footsteps. Father Floyd is only talking again to his son after a 9 year silence.

The purse for each boxer is said to be $5million for Floyd and  $2 million for Juan Manuel. However, the Pay Per View returns could considerably change these figures if the boxers have carefully detailed contracts.

In 2007, the year he last fought in competition, Floyd earned an astonishing than $50 million.

The USA Inland Revenue Service Internal Revenue Service is seeking over $6 million in unpaid taxes from Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather.

Last week a bank in Las Vegas sued the fighter for $167,000 he is alleged to owe on a Mercedes Maybach car that he bought two years ago and which was repossessed in January. Floyd's  protest answer is he is a victim of a conman to whom he believed he had sold the car. He dismisses any thoughts he does not have the money,

He has also suffered a burglary at his home and a considerable amount of his jewellery was stolen.

He makes no secret that two handguns, ammunition and a bulletproof vest police found in his house and in the boot of one of his cars were his property but they were not intended for nefarious intentions. Obviously the police believed him – I think?

To say all these revelations are merely a day in the life of a ’Mayweather’ might be an accurate description.

The one line of form that allows the thought that Floyd may be beatable is his defeat of Ricky Hatton (England) was less impressive than the defeat of Ricky by the physically disadvantaged Manny Pacquiao.

Floyd took eight full rounds, whereas Manny took three rounds of domination to KO Ricky in style Ricky had never experienced before.

However, there could be a special reason that dilutes this statistic and it is the fight plan designed by Freddie Roach for Manny was exemplary. I believe Freddie decided that for Manny to win it had to be within three rounds otherwise the tough, hard punching but slow starting Ricky would wear Manny down.

Ricky was totally unprepared for this superb orchestrated action methodology and it cost him dearly. Had Ricky been prepared for the fast starting whirlwind Manny the result might have been different.

The trainer/Coach for Ricky against Manny was Floyd Mayweather Sr. He decided the better tactic was to try and play mind games and out psyche Manny and Freddie Roach. It failed miserably and Ricky suffered a humiliating defeat.

Tonight the Mayweather boxing trio are faced by another highly regarded wise campaigner in Nacho Beristain of Mexico.

The quiet unassuming Mexican Nacho believes he has a plan of strategy that will bring victory for Juan Manual and all of Mexico.

It is likely superior tactics will win this fight. Juan Manuel said in August, "This week we began to work on speed and that is what I need to beat Mayweather. Also I am training to strike the body. It's rare that anyone hit him to the body. Zab Judah did it, and I am also going to do it."

Juan Manuel added he would specifically target the rib injury Mayweather suffered in training, which caused the original fight date of July 18 fight to be postponed and rescheduled for tonight.

The very next day Floyd posted onto his Twitter account, MAYWEATHERMANIA: "Marquez says hes goin after my ribs but theres no weakness in MONEY MAY. Only ribs he'll b diggin n2 will b at Outback after I take him down."

Translations are available.

Will Juan Manuel try a repeat of the tactics of Manny Pacquiao that caused Ricky Hatton to crash to the canvas and out wide? Or will he bide his time and from the centre of the ring try to control the pace of the fight.

At 36 years of age, it would be above being remarkable if Juan Manuel is capable of 12 rounds of non stop boxing action.

The courteous and wily Nacho Beristain said, quite rightly, "I can't tell you what we are going to do because that is between me and my fighter,"

So what will it be? Will Juan Manuel target the possible Mayweather body? Or will he hold centre stage in the ring and make 32 year old Floyd Mayweather bring the fight to him?

On the other side of the coin will Floyd outgeneral the General and effectively use his physical advantages?

Floyd is a superb boxer and the fact that he is undefeated alone tells you that the fight plans of opponents who possessed one, failed to deliver a winning result. This is because quality superior ability is so very difficult to overcome with mere tactics no matter how well designed they might be in theory.

Floyd has a mega pay night on the horizon because should he win and Manny Pacquiao defeats Miguel Cotto in their forthcoming clash both Floyd and Manny will want the lion’s share of the purse and extra cash will be demanded and given to the one that is the most impressive winner.

If both should win in spectacular fashion then the financial returns would be sufficient to bail out Fanny May or one of the struggling banks.

I don’t have any loose change so I can’t flip a coin and in contemplation on deciding the winner of this complex boxing match my mind regularly slips into butterfly mode, and is inclined to dart from one decision thought to another before I have time to retain it, but overall I consider Floyd Mayweather has advantages that will secure victory for him.

I have great respect for the outstanding talent and record of Juan Manuel but I am also a real fan of ‘Money May’ when solely judging him as a Sweet Scientist.

Whoever wins, our sincere congratulations are extended to two great boxing champions who have behaved en route to the fight date in a way that champions should behave.

Youngsters will only gain respect and a better education from superstars that behave in this accorded manner

Gentleman, we thank you. ~
