OPPORTUNITY FOR BARKING IN GREATER LONDON TO BECOME THE POLITICAL CENTRE FOR SPORT IN UK

THE OUTCRY BY THE UKIP PARLIAMENTARY CANDIDATE FOR BARKING IN GREATER LONDON, MR. FRANK MALONEY, BETTER KNOWN AS A LEADING WORLD CLASS BOXING PROMOTER , HAS HIT OUT AT THE EUROPEAN UNION LAW THAT ALL MEMBERS OF THE UNION SHOULD BE TREATED AS EQUALS.

The United Kingdom is a quasi member of the European Union simply because our politicians in their regular state of dither and doubt, while many us realise that on its own the United Kingdom would be a small Island with bigger ambitions.

We are failing to be a lead member in the Union – except when it suits the politicians of various colours.

Politician Frank is angry that UK taxpayers do not have first claim on 2012 Olympic Games tickets after paying for the cost of the Games.

An immediate understandable reaction is, he is right.

However, due to the self interest of the UK Conservative Party, and others , which include the newspaper barons and those who fear competition from European companies, the meaning of the laws of the Union are not properly explained to UK people.

The winning of the right to stage the 2012 Olympic Games was not a gift from the UK to the World. We made our bid because it was believed the regeneration of the East End of London would be effected on the cheap.

The fact that the Olympic Games has proven to be  a loss maker to all host countries, except I believe by the canny  Australians, perhaps, this was overlooked by the Tony Blair led UK Olympic team organisers.

The only people that truly understand whether the European Union is of benefit to the UK are lawyers and academics who specialise in the subject. The rest of us know more about boxing, football and other leisure pursuits,

Probably, as it is so often proven, some politicians know even less.

The advantages of the UK being a State member of the European Union are not explained by the media because they fear competition from Europe. This means that while many citizens have definite views on the value of this membership almost none has any serious understanding of the treaty that binds Union members and the possible gains that could be made,

I am one of these people but what I fear is if the UK opted out, or were eventually thrown out because of its attitude, a financial climate change would hit this country like a cyclone and bringing with it arctic monetary weather; we would be frozen out of World trading due to loss of special trading concessions and left naked without even a fig leaf of cover.

The special benefits of trading in a market with a population over 491 million (not including a possible 10+ million illegal immigrants,) which is greater than that of the United States, would be lost and the orphan United Kingdom would be an outcast.

When you consider that Texas is nearly three times bigger than the UK the point is driven home and it is possible to arrive at a true perspective.

If the UK European sceptics are correct it means that Germany, France and the other supporting countries of the Union are all wrong and UK is right.

Were the 650 members of the British Parliament to be quality politicians like Angela Merkel, the quiet and efficient woman of European politics and Chancellor of Germany, or Barack Obama, and they decided the Union was not for the UK, I would follow their advice.

Much play is made of the claim that UK pays more money than any other country into the European Union. Surely, the blame for this has to be on the politicians who argued the case for UK. If they were outwitted and foolishl agreed to such an astonishing situation then place the blame fairly and fairly and squarely upon them

You would believe if you follow the European sceptics that the UK has over the past 7 decades been blessed with quality politicians who have done so much good for the UK.

The opposite is the truth.

The much vaunted Margaret Thatcher sowed the seeds of the present dreadful banking chaos; Tony Blair looked to be set to be the best ever Prime Minister and he then met George Bush and his cronies.

The rest of their records are disastrous chapters in World history

The motley crew presently in the UK Parliament is an example of the poor quality that has forced this country into its worst ever financial crisis

Is it possible to imagine if Tony Blair was French or German and put forward as a candidate for the Presidency of the European how deafing loud would have been the outcry in the UK media?

Questionable as the conduct might be of some past European politicians none is as guilty of political crimes as horrendous as those of Tony Blair and his senior partner, George Bush?

The Union actually is an amalgamation of states. Therefore the correct name for the European Union should be the United States of Europe but that could be too close to the USA name.

Frank Maloney decided to join the controversial United Kingdom Independent Party (UKIP) and as he lives in a democratic society it is rightfully his choice.

If I lived in Barking would I vote for Frank Maloney of UKIP?

I am sorry, Frank the answer would be, NO! If Angela Merkel, or Barack Obama were an alternative choice..

However, if you compare Frank to his opposition candidates in Barking, without doubt the answer would be, yes.

I am opposed to a number of UKIP policies and their anti-European campaign is certainly one I do not support, but I do hope all sport enthusiasts that might not vote for UKIP, will vote for Frank.

We need a devoted outspoken sports person in Parliament who is not restricted by dictatorial party whips.

Who in UK Parliament would have the passion and knowledge of sport that would stand comparison to the former manager/promoter of World champion Lennox Lewis and others?

I have known Frank for many years and it is not only sport that would benefit from Frank as their MP. He has natural Cockney loyalty and would fight for any good cause for Barking and its people.

The Mitchell brothers from next door neighbours, Dagenham should forget boxing politics and support Frank Maloney in the forthcoming national General Election.

If Kevin Mitchell beats Michael Katsidis and brings glory and attention to Dagenham and Frank Maloney becomes the Member of Parliament for Barking, all sporting eyes would on Dagenham and Barking.

So, come on people of Barking in East Greater London give your vote to a true Cockney and put your valuable X alongside the name of Maloney F on the voting form. ~
