THE VIEW OF A BOXING COACH ON THE TRAGEDY OF YOUNG BEN KINSELLA
Hi, Boxing Action
After watching the T.V. programme on Ben Kinsella last night on BBC, it makes one realise how mindless is the current craze of knife crime. The article on your website pulls no punches and I now understand why.
What a tragic waste of a young talented lad who had his whole life to look forward to. It makes me angry is that successive governments only pay lip service to this growing problem.it said on the programme last night that only 5% of the knife crime offenders were given a custodial sentence; this is " Shocking " .
I was deeply moved by the story on Boxing Action.com and the T.V. programme last night. Ironically Ben had written a very graphic article on the subject of knife crime for his English teacher and forthcoming school exam; in the article he describes the cold lonely feeling of being repeatedly stabbed and left for dead in a cold lonely alleyway, such a vivid account makes you realise that Ben was well clued up on the dangers of knife crime, which is now an epidemic in the U.K.
However, no one could have forseen or predicted that Ben would be killed in such tragic circumstances. It seems scant consolation that the 3 hoodlums were gifted 19 year prision sentences each (I feel that is the real travesty.)
His sister said it only brings a partial closure to the episode, and obviously leaves a massive void in their lives, what a sad story.
I truly feel for them.
Take care, Ian
