JEFFRIES 6th SUMMER RUMBLE PROMISES TO BE THE BEST

Phil Jeffries puts on his annual Summer Rumble 6 show on July 10th and it promises to be another boxing feast for the local fans to tuck into. Jeffries is looking to get Martin Ward a title fight to headline the show and the rest of the card will be packed with the region's best local talent. The Sunderland-based promoter's shows have been going from strength to strength over the last few years, largely down to the great crop of emerging talent and their willingness to take on challenges as they move through the ranks.

Martin's younger brother, Tommy, will also be in action as he continues to blaze a trail towards bigger things following another impressive showing last time out against Robbie Turley, taking his record to 17-0. Jeffries believes Tommy can go all the way and he will get the chance to prove himself in his own title fights in the near future.

As always the Summer Rumble will take place at Sunderland's Stadium of Light and home town favourites Glenn Foot, Jonson Maclumpha and Isaac Macleod will be doing what they do best in front of their own. Foot was expected to fight fellow Sunderland boxer Lee Mould for an area title but that fight will never ever go ahead. Foot will be looking for a meaningful contest in its place.

Thomas Essomba will return after losing last time out to Iain Butcher. Lewis 'Sandman' Ritson will be on show, as will the likes of Simon Vallily  Warren Baister , Dan Walls ,Jordan King, Darren Richardson and Scotlands Stephen Simmons having Sunderland been his second home with family from the city  . There will be eagerly anticipated debuts for Adam Watson and Jay Hughes, both of whom are expected to go a long way in the sport. There will also be a local derby fight between James Barnes and Steve Cooper which is bound to be all action for as long as it lasts and there will be more added as the build up continues.

. This is Jeffries 6th Summer Rumble and it promises to be the best yet. Contact Phil Jeffries on 07747 611020 with any enquiries.

BBBofC JOINS POWERFUL FUSION OPPOSING BOXERS COMPETING IN RIO OLYMPICS

AIBA - PROFESSIONAL BOXERS COMPETING AT THE OLYMPICS

FollowIng the announcement that AIBA are to permit professional boxers to compete in future Olympic Games, the British Boxing Board of Control confirm their objection to such a proposal.

It is the belief of the British Boxing Board of Control that such a move is against the spirit of the Olympics, disrespectful to the many GB Amateur boxers who, throughout the Olympic cycle compete around the World in qualifying tournaments and ultimately dangerous.

It is the hope of the British Boxing Board of Control and many within the professional Sport in Great Britain and throughout the World that AIBA reconsider such a move that is not beneficial to the sport as a whole. ~
